Sometimes Stars Cannot be Seen but They're Always There

The book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry has truly inspired me, and I'm sure it'll inspire you as well. This novel brings up the life of a ten-year-old girl, Anemarie Johansen that lived in Copenhagen, Denmark, during the World War II, in September 1943. Copenhagen used to be a very nice and peaceful place, but at that time it was filled with Nazis in every corner in the city. Anemarie and her family had been courageous due to their acts to help their fellow friend, Ellen Rosen. They risked their lives by trying their best to protect the Rosens and other Jews from the Nazis and helping them to escape to Sweden by pretending that Ellen was Anemarie's older sister. Anemarie used to have an older sister, Lise but she died in the war because of her desicion to join the Danish Resistence.

The first time I read the book was last year. I thought that this book will be the same like those uninteresting and boring novels. But I was totally wrong. The book really opened my eyes to see the world better. It taught me many valuable moral lessons of life. The book taught me to be brave and courageous person like Anemarie who conquered her fears. It also inspired me to appreciate life in every situation like Anemarie, she faced difficult situation but she was happy and grateful for her life. And most of all it taught me the deep meaning of a true friendship. We all know what Anemarie did for Ellen was truly spectacular. I just couldn't believe how a friend could possibly do that.

Like I said in the beginning the book had made difference in my life. I became a better person by appreciating and stop complaining for little problems I faced. I also cherish my friendship with devoted friends. I chose this title because I value a true meaning of friendship. Stars are like friends they're not close or we can't always see them but they're always there to help us and suppport us.

We also can see this story from a different perspective. Ellen symbolize us, people that have troubles in life. Anemarie symbolize guardian angels that want to help us and make us safer. The Nazis are the devil that make us suffer. And Ellen necklace the Star of David represents the Jews.

I would rate this book a 9 over 10 because they are really fascinating and I would like to recommend this book for anybody that have troubles in live and those that think they are never good enough, this book could really make you confident and stand up for yourselves.
I really wish that the book can make you a better person and change your life in a better way.

christmas vacation

on my vacation i was very excited, because my brothers are coming home and we're going to korea at winter time. i never see real snow in my life and i wanted to see it so bad. so, the first day we arrived in korea we first went to the hotel and unpack our bags and stuff. then we took some walk and go shopping. it was so cold and it felt like my feet are freezing.
after that we ate dinner at this cool korean restaurant. the food was so delicious and it was spicy too. then we went to the hotel and get some rest.
on the second day we went to a market. and the fun thing was that we took underground train. at the market we saw many shirts, bags, jewelries, and much more stuffs. we spend the whole day in that market and we also ate some meat there. after we finish our dinner we went to head off home. but then the underground train was close and we should took public bus to get us home or taxi. but my parents suggest to take public bus rather than taxi. then suddenly we were late for the bus and we need to stay for 40 more minutes. after a long day we then slept.
the third day was on of my favorite time. we when to this beautiful korean palace. when we arrived there we saw this parade. there was korean soldiers lining up and speaking korean language. after the parade was finish we took pictures with the korean soldiers. after that we saw many buildings of the palace. my favorite time was when me and my brothers played the snowball fight. it was so fun. so we took some snow and bundle it up into a ball and throw it at each other. after we play we went to this cafe in the middle of the palace. we drink some coffee and hot cocoa. we then took pictures of the palace. and we went home. we then ate korean barbecue that tastes to good. after that we went home and and slept.
the fourth day we when to 2 places which is nami island and mount soerak. so first we when to nami island. it took 2 hours for us to arrived there. when we arrived it was so freezing cold. after my parents bought the ticket we went to this ship and then we sail off to the island. when we arrived to the island we could see this beautiful carved ice. then when we walked we could see many tall trees lining up. it was so wonderful and pretty. after we were finish seeing some stuffs we went back and went to mount seorak. in mount seorak we can see budha temple and this gigantic budha statue. then we eat lunch there and we went to the mountain. we used cable car to go to the top of the mountain and when we reach the top we can see very beautiful view. then we took some pictures and went home.
the fifth day we went to a village and over there we saw how the old times people lived and their habit. we dont do that much stuffs in the fifth day.
the sixth day we went to another village that had turned into city. we took pictures and go shopping. we eat this ice cream that tastes so good. after we went to the village we went to another market and here we could see many people selling korean goods and souvenir. we ate at this small restaurant and then when home. the seventh day we went to the airport and went back to indonesia. it was a great holiday.
